Twitter Nation & Automation – SES London ( #SESUK )

24th February 2011

Next up a SES we have session with Matt McGowan, Managing Director, Americas, Incisive Media, Ralph Tegtmeier, aka, Fantomaster, Tracy Falke, Director of Content, Search, Social Media & Emerging Technology, Powershift Media Group & Jonathan Allen, Director, SearchEngineWatch covering off some of the best ways to promote yourself on Twitter and use some of the automated tools to make managing an account easier.

Here were some of the bits I found most interesting/useful…

1. One of the most worrying things about Twitter is how narcissistic it makes you

2. When using the twitter button make use the recommend account feature, not enough people do

3. Use Google Analytics data to help you decide when to tweet

4. Understand the impact time zones can have on twitter sharing and use it to your advantage

5. Klout it useless don’t obsess on it but PeerIndex is much better

6. You shouldn’t automate following, it doesn’t work

7. If everyone posts at lunch time you’ll get lost in the flood

8. Keep you tweets under 120 to make it easier to retweet

9. Socialoomph will spin your tweets for you

10. A good twitter account can save you a huge on customer service

11. 80% of your tweets should be automated and 20% manual (I disagree but that’s the tip!)
