The end of the year is approaching rapidly so it is time to start counting down to the New Years. And I always like to do that in a special way. Because this blog is something special. Special because the authors of this blog are not only very smart people who write great content, but also very nice people who all have one thing in common: they have a specific drive and they are genuine.
As you may have noticed I am highlighting the bloggers on State of Search, because they are a very special group of people. They all have something special, but none of them are the same. They all however deserve some attention! As said, today its ladies day, now up: Annabel Hodges.
What post are you are most proud of this year?
Post I’m most proud of: http://www.stateofsearch.com/above-the-line-ppc-and-seo-its-a-brand-new-game/
It’s not about ‘new’ changes in SEO or exciting new tactics but it’s 100% related to real world work and actual tactics with money saving implications.
What was your (personal or business, or both) highlight of 2011?
My personal highlight of 2011 was probably the start of the year when I found myself trekking through the Cuban countryside on horseback and hanging out by waterfalls instead of shivering in the snow. My business highlight has really been just growing and developing a lot this year, particularly in terms of confidence and assertiveness. Something which is massively underrated but which I’m learning can really be make or break.
What are you ‘wishing’ for 2012?
As an SEO and digital marketer I’d like to Google to calm down a little and focus on existing products. This year they seem to have been so keen on pushing out new ideas such as Google Plus that they’ve failed on providing a good, solid service on existing products like Google Places. Algorithmic changes have been shifting all over the place and it would be a dream to see a clear direction emerge. I’m also hitting the big 3-0 this year and am very much looking forward to celebrating this grown up occasion by running off to Edinburgh to coo at the pandas!
Annabel is an example of the young and talented people on State of Search. I think she probably is one of the smartest people in the industry and certainly one of the most appreciated women in the industry. I think nobody will argue with that.
One of the reasons why she is that popular is not just her knowledge, which is huge, but is also the way she connects to people. Open, honest, modest (sometimes a bit too modest) and always in for a good time.
Annabel is not just a great SEO, she is also a great blogger, one of the best out there. Every single post is gold. And even though we have some great live bloggers on the team, there is nobody who can live blog a conference like Annabel can. And I can tell you, that is not easy to do.
Annabel, I’d like to wish you happy holidays and a perfect 2012, and please, be careful next year, those ‘little accidents’ which give you such a headache, we don’t want those anymore, agreed?
