28 September 2012 BY

Does Social Media distract you from your work? It is probably a much heard complaint with employers, while employees maybe enjoy the distraction. But how much does it really disrupt us from our work? Let us know, how much does it disrupt you?

Trying to keep up to date with everything SEO has always been difficult when you have lots of work on, and I can safely say the disruption social media causes to a working day is quite high and I don’t doubt that the stats in this infographic are spot on.

I often find myself looking at posts I’ve found on Twitter, and if I find a good article I even share it with fellow colleagues which probably causes disruption to their work too. The same applies for e-mail from them when they find something worth sharing. It sounds like we’re all guilty of it in some form or another.

Disruption aside, social media is a great source of information so it’s not something I’d be ready to let go of too quickly. Without it we would probably lose touch with the SEO industry fairly quickly as the pace it moves at on a daily basis can be unreal.

Almost the first hour of my day is spent looking through blog articles made through the night. I also spend another hour throughout the day at least looking at others as they’re posted. If I didn’t, I’d find myself using up an entire day just catching up.
