SES pre-show speaker interviews: Jon Myers (@jondmyers)

21st February 2011

As mediapartner of SES London 2011 we’ll be bringing you everything about the conference you can possibly think off. For that we’ve already set up our special conference page where all the content surrounding SES London 2011 will be gathered. One of the things you can find there is this series, which we are starting today. Going up to the conference we are going to ‘warm you up’ a bit with about a dozen interviews with speakers at SES London. What sessions are they on, what are they talking about and what sessions are they looking forward to. You’ll find the answers in this series.

This final pre-show interview is for somebody very close to us: Jon Myers. He was appointed at Yahoo not very long ago and in his new job is moving up the ladder fast. He will be moderating and speaking at SES, of which he also is a board member.

What session are you speaking on?

I’m speaking on the first day in the after-lunch slot along with my counterpart, Mark Richardson at Microsoft about the Yahoo! Microsoft Search Alliance, as well as moderating a lot of panels over the 3 days. I’ll also be tweeting @ YahooUKSearch for the duration of the event.

What will be the focus of your presentation(s)?

Hopefully most people will know that Yahoo! and Microsoft are coming together to create a powerful new choice in search. The transition is already complete in North America and Canada and we’re now working on the transition in the UK, France and Ireland. The presentation is going to map out what the Search Alliance means for advertisers and what they can expect from us. The Search Alliance will deliver the scale and innovation needed to offer consumers a powerful new choice in search, while enabling advertisers to reach a high quality audience through one set of campaigns on a single global platform for greater ROI.

What session are you looking forward to seeing yourself?

John Marshall, CTO at Market Motive is speaking just before me. He’s the top guy in analytics and definitely worth going along to. Also Matt Bailey, President of Site Logic has incredible knowledge. He’s a great presenter so I recommend people make the most of him being over from the States to hear him.

What is the biggest tip you can give attendees of SES London?

Don’t be afraid to approach the speakers! I love it when people ask me questions afterwards and that’s what we’re there for – to talk to everyone. In that respect, make the most of all the networking opportunities over the three days.
