SES pre-show speaker interviews: Matthew Wood

27th January 2011

As mediapartner of SES London 2011 we’ll be bringing you everything about the conference you can possibly think off. For that we’ve already set up our special conference page where all the content surrounding SES London 2011 will be gathered. One of the things you can find there is this series, which we are starting today. Going up to the conference we are going to ‘warm you up’ a bit with about a dozen interviews with speakers at SES London. What sessions are they on, what are they talking about and what sessions are they looking forward to. You’ll find the answers in this series.

Today we highlight Matthew Wood. Matthew is the Managing Director of Existem and the founding father and organizer of the A4uexpo an Affiliate Marketing conference in London and Munich.. Matthew also invests in start-ups and joint ventures on a national and global scale.

What session are you talking on?

Affiliate Marketing. We all know that many SEO’s moonlight as affiliate marketers and I aim to give an overview of the industry, the trends we’ve been seeing over the last decade, what’s bringing in the bucks right now, where we are heading, what not to do! And some sound strategies to really boost your earnings whether you are an existing or burgeoning affiliate.

What will be the focus of your presentation(s)?

Well, what I won’t be doing is suggesting that everyone jumps into a near impossible niche like Casino & Gaming as I heard last year! I’d like to focus on actionable insights and strategies to boost your performance as an affiliate and to enlighten people on the and huge scope of using performance marketing as either a method to subsidise your income or create a full blown business.

What session are you looking forward to seeing yourself?

I’m a big fan of Richard Baxter, his architecture talks are top notch. The SEO & EXCEL session by Chee Ho Wan looks intriguing. SEO through blogs and feeds too, though that’s on at the same time as mine (must be affiliate hour!) finally amongst many others getting Mobilized should be interesting too as this fits well with one of my investments http://www.vouchercloud.com.

What is the biggest tip you can give attendees of SES London?

Preparation. Make sure you study the agenda thoroughly and have a backup too just in-case your chosen session doesn’t have the vibe you expected. Though hopefully that won’t be mine!
